This family and maternity session at the Oregon Coast will forever be a favorite of mine. Nate contacted me about photographing their family of 4, with his wife Claire and their 2 adorable girls, as they wait for their baby boy’s arrival. We had originally planned to meet at golden hour one evening in August, but we ended up changing it to sunrise in order to accommodate the kids’ schedules better. While we didn’t get much of a sunrise, we did get a negative tide and a perfect morning at the beach.

These girls loved the ocean and the sea creatures as much as I do. I could have stayed and played in the water and sand with them all day. We saw lots of sea anemones, starfish, mussels, and barnacles on the rocks. We had a massive beach area to play because the tide was so far out. This is my absolute favorite time to visit the coast. While it was a very early morning for all of us, it was worth it for the experience and the completely empty beach.

Claire looked absolutely stunning with just weeks to go in her pregnancy. They were all excited to have another baby join the family. That baby boy is one lucky guy to have these big sisters.

After this session, I decided to offer negative tide sessions in 2023 at the Oregon Coast. While there are a few springtime negative tides, they mostly fall mid-week in the mornings. If this works for you, let me know and I will tell you when and where to meet me for a session with the tide pools! I will be announcing dates for summertime negative tide sessions soon.

Heidi Heaphy Photography is currently booking 2023 spring, summer, and fall elopements, families, seniors, and other portraits. Meet me at the Oregon Coast, in the greater Portland area, or elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
